The Gateway to Professional Success (GPS) Program is a series of six workshops focused on key professional skills that are the critical leadership competencies sought after by employers. Each workshop consists of a short presentation followed by faculty-mentored practice sessions. Faculty experts will be present for each of the six sessions helping students to focus on improving and practicing these critical leadership competencies.
Participants who complete all six workshops will earn a certificate and a stole to be worn during graduation.
Applications for the Fall 2021 Program are due Friday, July 30, 2021.
For Fall 2021, workshops will be offered on Tuesdays from 12-12:50 p.m. on the following dates:
- September 14
- September 28
- October 12
- October 26
- November 9
- November 23
The GPS Program consists of the following workshops:
- High Impact Communication Skills for the Workplace
- Teamwork and Collaboration Skills
- Effective Managers are Problem Solvers
- Working Successfully with Others
- Putting the “PRO” in Professional
- Self-Empowerment for Success
College graduates will be taking on leadership roles much more quickly than they might anticipate after starting their career. SBE graduates who possess strong professional skills will have the best opportunity for being chosen for leadership positions.
Upon completion** of all six workshops in the GPS Program, students will receive:
- Certificate of completion that can be included in your resume or shared with future employers
- Stole to be worn at graduation
**Please note that the timeing for distributing these items may be impacted by SSU's COVID-19 guidelines and campus operational capabilities.
Yes, you can. However, to earn the certificate and stole, you must attend all six workshops.
The GPS Program is free for all current School of Business and Economics juniors and seniors, but does require an application to participate. Seats are limited.
